The woman who tested positive on Friday made it the first in 20 days.
World Health Organisation (WHO) usually waits 42 days to elapse from last known case before a country is declared free of the virus.
Dr. Francis Kateh, Liberia's Acting Head of Ebola Incident Management Team confirmed that a woman had been taken to a Monrovian treatment centre after testing positive for the virus.
Dr. Kateh said he was concerned as it has not been possible to establish how the woman caught the virus.
Beatrice Yardolo pictured below was thought to be the last known case until this recent development.
